Happy 2018 everybody! Can I still say that seeing that it’s basically February already? January has been as relaxing as it’s been stressful, with ongoing work schedules throughout the new year period and a well deserved break thereafter I finally feel refreshed and ready for the new year (even though one month has already passed us). At first, I didn’t know what I wanted to write about but the new year new feeling adrenaline has finally hit my gut and I’m beginning to feel inspired and a big part of me wants to seek an adventure this year.
To a lot of people I think my life is an adventure. I’ve been living abroad for the past year and a half in Seoul, South Korea, a country very different from my own. And when I first moved to Korea in 2012 I thought it was far too different from South Africa for me to love living here. But alas, as time passes and we grow and evolve into newer beings, Seoul has proved to be a city that I love to get lost in. In every alley and around every corner is something new to be discovered. With more and more neighbourhoods becoming the new ‘it’ place, Seoul offers no shortage of things to do and places to go. Not to mention its first world conveniences, the city is made to be explored.
Moving to a different place, wherever it may be, can be an adventure if you choose to look at it in that light. This doesn’t mean that it is without its difficulties. But how you choose to view any situation you’re in is completely up to you. Our experience is often depended on our mindset and when we have a positive outlook, we will have an amazing experience. This is what I’ve learnt in my time spent abroad and it’s pushing me to consider another move, however long or short that might be. So here’s to a year filled with adventures and light! To new experiences and to creating a life we love to live! Here’s to 2018 ❤
